To practice my English for TOEFL and share with more friends, I keep this diary in English. Also, I have two France friend who does not read Chinese, so I write this in English. We spent two days and two nights in central Taiwan, and it was a unforgettable traveling experience. The spots we visited includes ChungTai Chan Monastery, Puli, SunMoon Lake, Shuai Li Snake Kiln, and Jiji .http://deardicky.890m.com/
We are so lucky that our master, whose name is Surprise, took us around and gave us introduction in the main building of ChungTai Chan Monastery in the early morning. It has more or less 30 stories. Of course, we didn't have enough time to get through all of it, but Master Surprise showed us the highest floor of the main building. In that floor, you might see all of the precious Sutra and Mantra, and it was such a well-constructed space that you can have a good meditation experience in there. http://deardicky.890m.com/
In the morning of the first day, we took part in the Buddhism Ceremony, which is hold by ChungTai Chan Monastery for the monk-to-be and nun-to-be. We chant some Sutra, you can call it the bible in Buddhism, before the Ceremony started. It was really a long and tough time for people to chant things like that, but you took it as a practice or experience, it is nice and touched. After the chanting, we had lunch, it is vegetarian meal, yet it was still satisfied us. Finishing lunch, we have a little time to show our respect to the monk and nun-to-be,which is donate time. I prepared red envelopes, stuffed with ten NTD in each envelopes, and the monk and nun-to-be went through the hallway in front of us; you can give the envelope to each of them. In Buddhism, it seems that you might have some connection (predestined relation in the past or future )with the monk or nun you donate. http://deardicky.890m.com/
After lunch, we had a little walk in ChungTai Chan Monastery, and then we started our ”Wandervogel .” Wandervogel is the name adopted by a popular movement of German youth groups from 1896 onward. The name can be translated as migratory bird and the ethos is to shake off the restrictions of society and get back to nature and freedom. Council of Agriculture of Republic of China (Taiwan) also encourages young people to know their mother lands more by experiencing agriculture and nature life. You can click the following link for more information http://straybirds.coa.gov.tw/index.php . In ChungTai Chan Monastery, we also experienced our wandervogel life. To see is to believe. I do not need to say what we do, but you can tell by photos themselves.
Dinner was also abundant and health. We walked around with the comfortable winds and stars which is not so easy to see; we drank coffee and shopped in souvenir store. By the way, Anthony lost his direction when he was wandering along. One of the master who is in charge of security found that Anthony can not find his way to dormitory, asking someone else to help the helpless foreigner. Anthony is so funny.
We had a unbelievable first day in ChungTai Chan Monastery, and the trip would be continued. http://deardicky.890m.com/
